Local Business Spotlight: Eric Budin, New York Life
Meeting other business professionals that have a similar work ethic and moral values is somewhat rare, which is why I immediately knew I was going to have a great working relationship with Eric Budin when I met him.
Eric and I were introduced to each other through a faith-based business networking group that we both are a part of called Unite NY. We immediately hit it off because not only do we both work in the insurance industry and have a shared business philosophy, but we also share our Christian faith, which established an immediate trust and foundation in our professional relationship.
This month I am excited to introduce Eric Budin of New York Life. His work in Life Insurance serves to educate people, above all else.
Meet Eric Budin
Eric was born and raised in Buffalo and often calls himself as a “local yocal” since he and his family have lived in the community for so long. His favorite thing about living and working in Buffalo is “the tightness of the community, while it’s a fairly big city in a county of around 900,000 residents, it still has the small town feeling where everyone knows everybody and everybody supports everybody.”
Eric has been working in both the investment world and insurance world in Buffalo for 15 years and focuses his work on protection and guarantees. “On the life insurance side, I help people protect their life and their income; on the retirement side, I work with guaranteed income streams.”
Focusing on education and problem solving
One thing that sets Eric apart from other insurance agents in the industry is he truly listens to his customers and listens to what their needs are. “I am adamant about educating people to the degree that they want to be educated; most people want to be comfortable and know they are making the right decision with their insurance, so I always listen first, then walk and teach them through the process.”
Over the years Eric has learned one of the main reasons why people who have an interest in life insurance never actually purchase it is because they have been falsely educated regarding the cost, often thinking it is up to 10 times more expensive than it actually is. “For example,” Eric shares, “Some people think life insurance will cost $100 per month, when in reality it will cost more like $12 a month.”
This is the education part of his job that Eric enjoys so much. “I have found that when information is presented accurately, I’m able to help tell the story of life insurance and educate people to help them understand life insurance is more affordable than they think.”
Serving clients and the community
Not only does Eric work to provide problem solving and education services to his clients, but he also carries those principles out into the Buffalo community. He’s the chairman of community outreach for Unite NY, and the board president of Youth with a Purpose, a Christian organization that mentors inner city men between the ages of 18-30 and provides after school programs middle school children.
Recipe for success
I’m happy to share Eric’s story and success because I think he is a great of example of the good we can do in the insurance industry and the good that we can do in our Buffalo community.
Through education, problem solving and his strong Christian values, Eric has made an impact on Buffalo that is both inspiring and impressive. It’s been a pleasure to work with and support Eric and I look forward to watching his successes in the future.
